We have a winner!!!
Our 2006 reunion was a smashing success by
all accounts! We had about 120 attendees, a wildly successful Silent
Auction, genuine German band music, and as always, outstanding food. Given
a choice next year of catered or potluck, the resounding preference was POTLUCK!
We do like our own fixins'...
Dale Schultz provided awesome background
music of a genuine German band recorded live and played over a wonderfully
professional PA system that made the experience that much more enjoyable.
Although we have enjoyed many years of getting together at Landa Haus, the times
have finally priced us out of that venue as an affordable one. Next year
instead, we will be reunioning at the brand new Community Center in Wimberley.
The facilities look impeccable and roomy, and still central enough to
accommodate Wolles coming from all over Texas. Terri Tuttle and her mother
Carolyn were re-elected Co-Coordinators, much to the relief of most of the
crowd...they do such a fantastic job anyway, why give up a good thing?
Financially, the Landa Haus facility rent was already
paid in advance, $200 carried over from 2005 and was spent in its entirety on
2006 expenses (postage, paper goods, invitations, drinks, door prizes). We
received $300 from our Silent Auction, $500 from contributions to the hat, and
we expect a $150 refund of our Landa Haus deposit. This gives us a
$950 cash balance going into 2007, with a forecast of about $650-700 in expenses
for the 2007 reunion.
January 5, 2007 update:
The 2006 $150 Landa
Haus deposit had been put on the 2005
coordinator's credit card and not paid for with any reunion monies. The deposit
was refunded and credited back to that
credit card. What this means is that the 2007 reunion account
balance is $800--not $950. The rental fee for the 2007 locale (Wimberley
Community Center) has been paid out of that $800 and the account balance
is now $531. Forecasted
expenses for 2007: $100 postage,
$100 paper goods, $50-100 for beverages (we ran out last year and will have more
this year). We should have approximately $250
going into 2008 before hat and auction proceeds
on 8/11/07.
Sincere thanks to all families for their strong
financial support...
Special thanks are extended to several:
Barbara Wolle for keeping the genealogy updates; Buddy Kralik for keeping us
connected via email; Dale Schultz for keeping our addresses straight and the
wonderful music; and Debbie Lain for the ICE!!! Many special thanks to
every single family member who brought food (the buffet was yet another
memorable one) and to all those who brought items for the Silent Auction.
Many thanks and see y'all next year!
